Smart street furniture in Paris

Introduction

Smoovebox - Central Center

Smoovebox records video messages and allows users to share them with loved ones simply. A second option: send a video postcard and contribute to the digital “I love you” world record.Paris Region Lab and the City of Paris on June 7th presented winners of the Intelligent Furnishing Call for Entries launched last November. “There is a need for creativity and renewal in the field of furniture. To open up the game we opened Paris' public space,” Jean-Louis Missika, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of innovation, revealed at a recent press conference.

Reason to Be Selected

40 projects were selected and will soon be on view in 60 different locations in the capita. Parisians and tourists alike passing by will be invited to give their views on these sometimes-futuristic objects in surveys conducted near the experimentation sites. “These experiments do not mean that the city of Paris will necessarily be the one who embraces these products and services in the future.”

However, as rightly pointed out by Missika, “today, Paris is the first city to launch an experiment of this magnitude.”Each experiment will last six months, but can be extended once for up to one year in total. The projects were chosen for their creativity and above all their innovativeness: candidates already selling their products or services were immediately disqualified. An overview of the projects follows.
